Hello all,
My name is Rena Kassa. Here is just a little background information about my ESL career;
-I worked as a Language Acquisition Aide in the Warren Consolidated School district for 7 years in many different building with many different students, from elementary to high school.
-I graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Wayne State University College of Education. My major is English and my minor is ESL in 2011.
-I was a substitute at Bemis Junior High in the Utica School District for an English ESL position for 1 year.
-I later accepted a teaching position in the Chippewa Valley School district as the only ESL teacher in the entire district. I taught at both Dakota High School and Chippewa High School.
-I then came back to Warren Consolidated schools and took over as a sheltered Language Acquisition Teacher at Warren Mott High School.
-I was transferred to Carleton Middle School to teach their sheltered level 1 class.
-Now I am the Language Acquisition Specialist at both Warren Mott High School and Sterling Heights High School
I have always had a passion for teaching ESL students. Coming from an immigrant family of 4 brothers and 2 sisters, I carry with me a lot of love and patience. I believe that learning is what life is all about. Where would anyone be without someone to teach him or her the way of life? Teaching is not only about gaining information, but it is also about gaining knowledge for every day life in countless ways.
